Implant-Supported Dentures: A Secure Alternative to Traditional Dentures

If your dentures slip, click, or need adhesive to stay put, you are not alone, and you do not have to live with it. Implant-supported dentures anchor your denture to a small number of dental implants, giving you a secure fit you can bite, chew, and smile with confidence.

01. What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported dentures combine the stability of dental implants with the familiar look of a denture. Instead of resting on your gums alone, your denture attaches to two or more implants placed in your jawbone. This keeps the denture from shifting while you eat or speak, and it helps slow the bone loss that comes with wearing a traditional denture.

Why Traditional Dentures Often Fall Short

Without the stimulation of tooth roots, the jawbone beneath a denture continues to shrink over time. As the bone changes shape, dentures that once fit well start to loosen, causing sore spots, difficulty chewing, and a reliance on adhesive. Implant-supported dentures address this by anchoring the denture to implants that help preserve the bone underneath.

02. Getting Your Implant-Supported Dentures

Step 1. Consultation and CT Imaging

We evaluate your jawbone with a cone beam CT scan and discuss your goals. Dr. Gholami determines how many implants your case requires and reviews your options for attachment style.

Step 2. Implant Placement

Dr. Gholami places your implants under local anesthesia, with sedation available if needed. Depending on your bone quality, we may attach a temporary denture the same day.

Step 3. Attaching Your Custom Denture

Once your implants have healed and fused with the bone, we take impressions and fit you with your final implant-supported denture, custom-made to match your bite and facial structure.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Implant-Supported Dentures across Port St. Lucie, Saint Lucie West, Stuart, and Jupiter

How many implants do I need for an implant-supported denture? 01 //

Most patients need two to four implants per arch, depending on your bone density and the type of denture attachment we recommend. We confirm the exact number at your consultation.

Can I remove my implant-supported denture? 02 //

Yes. Most implant-supported dentures snap onto the implants and can be removed for cleaning, unlike a fixed full-arch bridge, which stays in place permanently.

What is the difference between an implant-supported denture and All-on-4? 03 //

An implant-supported denture is removable and typically uses fewer implants. All-on-4 is a fixed bridge that stays in your mouth permanently and is cleaned like natural teeth. We will help you decide which fits your goals and budget.

Will insurance help cover implant-supported dentures? 04 //

Coverage varies by plan. We accept most major dental insurance plans and offer financing and a membership plan for patients without coverage.
